Desert View Learning Center Scholarships

A Valuable Tax Credit for You, A Quality Education for a Deserving Child.

Desert View Learning Center is a small, nonprofit school serving the Phoenix area since 1973. As a progressive private school, we are committed to ensuring that NO student is denied access to Desert View because they are unable to pay our tuition. Our scholarship program pays full or partial tuition for about 30% of our children and is funded by the Arizona State Income Tax Credit for contributions to private schools.

You can help fund DVLC scholarships without incurring any extra cost to you!
For the tax year 2018, you can direct up to $2,213 of your state income tax payments to Desert View Learning Center Scholarships. This tax credit money ONLY funds scholarships for families with demonstrated financial need.

How it works ...

  1. Send up to $2,213 ($1,107 if single) to the Schools with Heart Foundation. Schools with Heart is the school tuition organization that administers our scholarship money. Contributions must be received before April 15.
  2. Arizona State will then give you a dollar-for-dollar credit against your state taxes. Any amount counts as a payment towards state income tax and reduces the total amount you owe the state. If the combination of your contribution to Schools with Heart AND the taxes withheld from your paycheck is greater than the amount you owe the state, you will receive a refund from the state.

New PLUS (Private Learning Uplifting Students) Tax Credit

Effective 2012, the Arizona Legislature enacted a new tax credit allowing donors to give an additional $1,103/$552 to aid financially qualified students. A donor must first give the maximum amount $1,110/$555 on the original tax credit, before they can contribute towards the new tax credit. Therefore, your total State tax credit can be as much as $2,213 (married) or $1,107 (single).

A school tuition organization cannot award, restrict or reserve scholarships solely on the basis of donor recommendation.

A taxpayer may not claim a tax credit if the tax payer agrees to swap donations with another taxpayer to benefit either taxpayer's own dependent.

Required by HB 2663 and HB 2664, May 2010
